Pictures’ action adventure “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” had a winning opening weekend, earning an estimated worldwide box office total of $424.1 million—the top Super Hero movie opening of all time and the fourth-biggest industry opening of all time—and breaking numerous records domestically and internationally.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” stars Oscar winner Ben Affleck (“Argo”) as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters’ first big-screen pairing.

ComScore’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, “Warner Bros.’ ‘Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ takes on the world and comes out a winner in a spectacular fashion with the fourth biggest global debut of all-time. With $424.1 million banked in the film’s first weekend and with $254 million derived from the international territories alone, the DC Comics film posts the biggest superhero opening weekend of all-time.”

With the film opening day-and-date in 66 markets outside the U.S., the international box office take was an estimated $254 million over the weekend on an unprecedented 40,000+ screens. It marks Warner Bros.’ biggest opening of all time in China (at $57.3 million), Mexico and Brazil. It is also the second-largest overseas opening for a Warner Bros. film (after the final “Harry Potter” film).
