Andela, a New York-based company that finds African programmers for companies, has raised $24 million in a Series B round led by Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and GV, formerly known as Google Ventures.
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is a fund launched in 2009 by Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan to advance human potential and promote equality. Andela is the first lead investment for the Initiative.
Andela developers today are building products for Google, Facebook and IBM, as well as dozens of fast growing venture-backed startups. Total applicants have more than doubled from 15,000 to over 40,000.
