NEW YORK – Singer Taylor Swift, with $170 million in earnings, is No. 1 on Forbes’ annual Celebrity 100 ranking of the world’s highest-paid celebrities in the July 26, 2016 magazine issue.
The former country singer turned pop superstar smashed the Rolling Stones’ North American touring record, grossing $200 million on the continent en route to a quarter-billion dollars in total for her 1989 World Tour. One Direction takes the No. 2 spot, with earnings of $110 million, followed by author James Patterson (No. 3), with $95 million, and Dr. Phil McGraw and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who are tied for No. 4. Kevin Hart (No. 6), with earnings of $87.5 million, is the first comedian to ever outearn Jerry Seinfeld and has packed venues this year at a rate on par with rock stars.

SiriusXM radio star Howard Stern earned $85 million for seventh place according to Forbes.
The world’s 100 highest-paid celebrities pulled in $5.1 billion pretax over the past 12 months, more than the Gross Domestic Product of Belize, Gambia and Bhutan combined. Forbes ranks talent across the entire entertainment world including, stars from Hollywood to Bollywood, creating a truly international list in which over one third of the celebrities are from outside the U.S.
Reality star Kim Kardashian West (No. 42 on this year’s global Celeb 100 list), is featured on the cover of the issue of Forbes, with earnings of $51 million this year. Thanks to cell phones and app stores, there is a new way to monetize fame. Media moguls such as, Kim Kardashian West, Ellen Degeneres and dozens of other boldfaced names have quickly created a $200 million cottage industry around mobile games. Kardashian has capitalized on mobile gaming, with 40% of her yearly paycheck coming from the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood game that has been downloaded 45 million times and generated $160 million in revenue since its June 2014 launch.
