Low-cost Spirit Airlines is expanding to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) this fall. Starting October 30, Spirit will begin new daily nonstop service between Newark and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). Service to/from Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) will begin March 9, 2017.
|Newark to/from||Service Start Date||Frequency|
|Fort Lauderdale||October 30, 2016||3 daily flights/4 daily flights (starting 11/10/16)|
|Orlando||October 30, 2016||Once daily/twice daily (starting 11/10/16)|
|Myrtle Beach||March 9, 2017||Once daily|
This new service complements Spirit’s existing service in the New York/New Jersey area, including 11 daily flights from New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and 11 daily flights from Atlantic City International Airport (ACY).
“We’re excited to expand our ultra-low cost service options in the greater New York/New Jersey area through Newark Liberty International Airport,” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning. “We thank the Federal Aviation Administration and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for enabling competitive access to Newark. Consumers are the winners in Newark – one of the highest airfare markets in the country – with the addition of more flights and lower fares from more airlines.”
In addition to these nonstop flights, Spirit will offer connecting service from Newark via its Fort Lauderdale home and Orlando to more than 30 destinations, including more than 20 to/from the Caribbean and Latin America.
Spirit’s new flights to Florida and Myrtle Beach are available for purchase immediately.
Based in Miramar, FL, Spirit operates
over 425 daily flights to more than 56 destinations in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.
