Over 5,000 NYPD police officers will be protecting New York City tomorrow on Election Day, 2016 in a massive show of force.
Mayor Bill de Blasio, Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill and U.S. Secret Service Special Agent in Charge Davis Beach outlined some of the security measures that New Yorkers may observe. Community members can expect to see officers at all polling location throughout the five boroughs and a large contingent of NYPD’s Critical Response Command, Strategic Response Group and the elite Emergency Service Unit – all heavily armed and prepared to respond to any type of situation. These elite officers will be at locations throughout the City.
Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will be spending Election night in Manhattan. Clinton will hold her event for supporters at the Jacob Javits Center with an after-party at the Peninsula Hotel. Trump and his supporters will be at the NY Hilton Hotel in Midtown. The NYPD will be closing streets around these locations tomorrow.
