Marriott International is opening on December 15 the first Aloft Hotel in the borough of Queens, specifically Long Island City. The new hotel lets users enter their rooms without key, using a smartphone or Apple Watch.
This hotel will be the fourth Aloft hotel in the New York City metropolitan area, joining properties in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The property is owned by Select Development and managed by Real Hospitality. The official name of the hotel, Aloft Long Island City – Manhattan View, features 176 spacious loft-style rooms, 1,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and a rooftop terrace, panoramic views of the NYC skyline, an outdoor courtyard and more.
“Aloft is a great choice for Long Island City because it’s a young, up and coming neighborhood near Manhattan and Brooklyn with a large entertainment connection and diverse restaurants,” said Paige Francis, Vice President, Global Brand Management, Aloft Hotels. “The hotel offers travelers a compelling blend of leading-edge design, a tech-forward mindset and a buzzing social scene. Aloft is a hit with today’s hyper-connected global traveler, now offering more than 100 dynamic destinations worldwide.”
Aloft Long Island City – Manhattan View is close to numerous art galleries, shops, restaurants and businesses, including JetBlue Airways headquarters. Just minutes from both La Guardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), the hotel is just a short subway ride from all top New York City attractions such as Times Square, the Empire State Building and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
“Aloft Long Island City – Manhattan View is a long-awaited addition to this vibrant neighborhood just across the river from Manhattan,” said Ben Seidel, President and CEO of Real Hospitality Group. “The fast-growing Aloft brand is a leading choice among today’s tech savvy travelers due to its forward-thinking approach to hospitality, accessible technologies and innovative programming.”
Aloft Long Island City – Manhattan View features SPG Keyless—the industry-first keyless entry system that enables guests to use their smartphone or Apple watch as a room key—and fast and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. Additional amenities include a Re:charge fitness center; and Re:fuel by Aloft – a one-stop gourmet grab & go food and beverage area and live, local music at the brand’s signature W XYZ bar as part of the signature Live At Aloft Hotels music series.
Aloft was part of Starwood Hotels, which was acquired by Marriott this year.
