NEW YORK – The Related Corporation has begun leasing at 261 Hudson, a 12-story building with 160 apartments in the West SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan.
Residents will start moving into the building on April 15. Pricing for available residences begins at $3,695 for studios, $4,750 for one-bedrooms and $7,595 for two-bedrooms.
Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects and landscape architects HMWhite, 261 Hudson is one of the only full service rental buildings in West SoHo. Located just blocks from the waterfront, the building sits at the nexus of West SoHo and Hudson Square, near the corner of Hudson and Spring Streets, and personifies downtown living perfected – an elevated lifestyle inspired by the creativity and refinement of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
“We designed 261 Hudson to reflect and cater to our residents’ downtown lifestyle. The building epitomizes industrial elegance, simultaneously paying homage to the neighborhood’s iconic manufacturing past while offering modern, light-filled open-plan apartments with custom finishes and contemporary conveniences,” said Bryan Cho, executive vice president at Related Companies. “The building’s amenity collection offers a diverse suite of indoor and outdoor spaces to relax, entertain and work, while the residential experience is further enhanced by our highly acclaimed hospitality-inspired service offering for which Related is known.”
The LEED Gold-designed, twelve-story brick building offers 160 luxury rental residences with more than 45 different arrangements ranging in size from studios to two-bedrooms, with gracious layouts that promote the ease and flexibility of loft living. Tailor-made residence interiors emphasize authenticity and beauty, with SoHo oak wood floors and grand multipaned windows. The kitchens are open and have grey-stained white oak cabinetry with soft-close cabinets and drawers, integrated Bosch refrigerators and dishwashers, polished chrome hardware, stone countertops and Carrara marble backsplashes. The bathrooms have Robert A. M. Stern Architects custom-designed cabinetry and imported marble countertops, walls and mosaic-tiled floors. Every apartment comes with Bosch appliances, including washers and dryers, and some of the residences include outdoor terraces and in-suite dressing areas.
The building’s vintage-inspired lobby and amenity suite were also designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, juxtaposing unique eclectic furnishings with modern details to create a bohemian sensibility inspired by the neighborhood.
“Robert A.M. Stern Architects is excited to make an architectural contribution to the newly vibrant West Soho / Hudson Square neighborhood,” said Daniel Lobitz, Partner at Robert A.M. Stern Architects. “The site enjoys a long frontage on Hudson Street, and we’ve taken advantage of that to articulate the façade in true New York style with a rhythm of stepped towers that march along the sidewalk and catch the sunlight in a beautiful way. We’ve furnished the interiors of the building’s common spaces with an eclectic mix of modern and vintage ideas as seen through the eye of a well-traveled collector.”
From the oval custom-paneled lobby to the exquisite garden courtyard designed by HMWhite, the amenities at 261 Hudson are meant to be lived in and loved. Upon entering the building, residents will be greeted in the lobby by a vaulted ceiling with a hand-sculpted starburst oculus. Handcrafted Venetian plaster panels framed in bronze lead to a staircase and a split-level amenity suite that includes a wood-paneled study and internet lounge with a welcoming fireplace, a private fitness studio curated by Equinox®, an intimate lounge and a full-service catering kitchen made for entertaining. On the lower level, residents will enjoy a private interior courtyard and garden, which rises to a trellis with built-in seating running along a brick garden wall at Renwick Street. At the top of the building, a landscaped roof terrace designed by HMWhite features custom-made chaise lounges and seating from Barcelona, offering unique views of the neighborhood and Hudson River. In addition to bike storage and personal storage, residents will enjoy the privilege of RelatedStyle Services®, a suite of rewards and services which include move-in coordination, MasterCard credit card rent payment, easy transfers within the Related Rentals portfolio, in-home package delivery and the opportunity to indulge in Related’s Partner Offer program which offers exclusive benefits including memberships with Equinox® Fitness and Citibike®.
Landscape Architect Hank White, Founding Principal of HMWhite, describes the setting for 261 Hudson “as a serene anecdote to the urban experience. An unexpected sculpted woodland garden has been designed of a scale more evocative of an English manor home’s countryside setting than a commonplace city courtyard.” White anticipates that, “residents will proudly revere the courtyard’s verdant majesty and inescapable presence in their daily lives.”
Hudson Square, in the burgeoning neighborhood of West SoHo, is an eclectic enclave at the crossroads of downtown’s quintessential communities: SoHo to the east, Greenwich Village to the North, and Tribeca to the South. The neighborhood has attracted a diverse range of artisanal shops and chef-driven restaurants, as well as leading design, media and tech companies. This is where the city’s creative inspiration thrives, and where New Yorkers come to dine, shop and play.
“As one of the only full-service, amenity-rich rental buildings in the neighborhood, 261 Hudson offers residents a truly unique way to live the downtown lifestyle,” said Chris Schmidt, vice president of leasing at Related Companies. “We have already signed more than 20 leases prior to the leasing office opening at 261 Hudson. There is immense interest among renters who want the eclecticism and convenience of West SoHo and Hudson Square but in a brand new building with graciously proportioned apartments and an elevated lifestyle experience.”
