The New York Times has hired Stephen Grocer from The Wall Street Journal to be an editor for its Dealbook business section.
The Dealbook section has undergone a redesign this month. Times columnist and DealBook founder Andrew Ross Sorkin has overseen the section since he started it in 2001.
At The Wall Street Journal, Grocer helped start Deal Journal, worked on MarketBeat, and created eight email newsletters, a live markets video show and a podcast.
As editor of the DealBook platform, he’ll work closely with Andrew Ross Sorkin to ensure each day’s report covers the analysis and commentary of the day’s most important business and policy events.
Grocer is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia Journalism School, Steve began his career at The Asbury Park Press, where he covered high school sports and then three towns in central Jersey. He now lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two young kids.
