NEW YORK – Forbes Media has named Mike Federle CEO of the company. Federle succeeds Mike Perlis, who is stepping down as CEO after seven years in that position and will serve as Vice Chairman and Strategic Advisor to management and the Board. These changes are effective January 1.
Since July of 2016, Mr. Federle has served as Forbes Media’s President and COO with responsibility for the company’s media business, its intersection with new businesses, content creation, editorial, product development, sales, marketing and corporate functions. In his new role, he will lead the organization and drive the company’s performance, strategic planning and worldwide growth. Mr. Federle joined Forbes Media in 2011.
“Mike Federle is ideally skilled to continue to lead Forbes’ evolution as a global technology-driven media and branding business,” said Mike Perlis, who has managed the transition process. “He brings to his new role experience of more than 25 years as a leader in the media industry and has a demonstrated track record of success at Forbes.”
Forbes plans to cut the frequency on its flagship business publication to just 10 issues in 2018. It once published every other week.
