NEW YORK — Venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates announced that Liza Landsman will be joining the firm as Venture Partner in early spring. Landsman, who currently holds the position of President at Jet.com, an online retailer acquired last year by Walmart and a former NEA portfolio company, will focus on consumer technology and commerce in her new role. She will be based out of the firm’s New York City office.
NEA has invested over $20 billion in cumulative capital since the firm’s founding in 1977. The firm invests in technology and healthcare companies at all stages in a company’s lifecycle, from seed stage through IPO. The firm’s long track record of successful investing includes more than 210 portfolio company IPOs and more than 360 acquisitions.
“I am thrilled to be joining NEA in the coming months and look forward to working across the firm’s portfolio as part of one of the world’s largest venture capital firms,” said Landsman. “I have centered my career around helping brands leverage data and insights to best serve the consumer, and I am excited to work with NEA and its partners to continue fostering innovative ideas and strategies for companies throughout their lifecycle.”
During her tenure at Jet.com, Landsman was a key growth driver for the company, leveraging her strengths as an operator and quantitative marketer to successfully launch the brand online and via mobile, garnering strong NPS scores early on along with rapid user acquisition and growth. Under her leadership, Jet.com grew from a small startup to a large business, reaching $1 billion run rate in gross merchandise value in less than one year. Landsman was also an ardent advocate for social issues, helping launch Jet.com’s social good program, JetCares, as well signing the Equal Pay Pledge to support continued diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
“Liza brings deep experience in retail technology and a phenomenal track record of driving innovation and delivering impactful results for companies, from early-stage startups to industry giants,” said Tony Florence, General Partner at NEA and head of the firm’s technology investing practice. “Her demonstrated ability to help companies organically grow and strategically scale will be a tremendous asset to NEA and its portfolio, and we are delighted to welcome Liza to the team.”
