New York-based Cockroach Labs has closed an $87 million series D financing round co-led by Altimeter Capital and Bond Capital.
Altimeter led the company’s $55 million Series C funding last August. Other investors in Cockroach Labs include Tiger Global, GV — formerly Google Ventures — and Benchmark, Index Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, FirstMark Capital, and Work-Bench.
The company develops the open-sourced SQL database Cockroach DB based in the cloud. The company says it will use the funds to double down on development of its database and also invest in Cockroach Cloud, its database-as-a-service product.
Clients that use Cockroach DB include Comcast, Lush and Bose.
