Over $3.92 billion has been bet by New Yorkers since online sports betting officially began in the state on January 8, 2022. The total handle doesn’t even include the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, which began last week, and not in the latest figures.
The amount won by NY’s eight legal sportsbooks or Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) was $274.5 million. This amount is taxed by the state of NY at 51% so a majority of profits goes to the government.
FanDuel is the most popular sportsbook in the state with $1.3 billion in total money wagered to date with Caesars second at $1.07 billion to date and DraftKings third at $952.5 million in revenues.
