Michael Kay, the lead broadcaster for the NY Yankees on YES Network, is also the top sports radio talk show host in the NY metro area.
The Michael Kay Show on ESPN New York 98.7 FM led New York sports talk shows in the winter ratings book for the time slot shared with WFAN’s afternoon program among the key demographic group of men age 25-54. The show averaged a 4.4 rating with that group for 3 – 6:30 p.m. ET, compared to 4.2 for WFAN. The ratings book covered January 4 – March 28.
The 98.7 ESPN show – hosted by Kay, Don La Greca and Peter Rosenberg weekdays from 3 – 7 p.m. ET – had a very strong advantage among young men (age 18-34), with a 3.3 rating compared to a 2.4 for WFAN’s combined audience on two stations.
Tim McCarthy, ESPN New York’s senior vice president and general manager, said, “I’m really happy for Michael, Don and Peter. They’ve been doing this for a long time, and the good news is the ratings over the last year have continued to grow in the right direction.”
ESPN 98.7 FM is also the official radio home of three major NY sports teams: New York Knicks, New York Rangers and New York Jets game broadcasts.
