The Wendy’s fast-food chain is launching breakfast for the first time at most restaurants nationwide on Monday as it looks to take share from McDonald’s. The breakfast menu features biscuit sandwiches, croissant sandwiches, seasoned potatoes and a breakfast version of Wendy’s Baconator sandwich.
Wendy’s has over 6,700 restaurants worldwide.
“To date, some others in the category have let breakfast consumers down by offering breakfast sandwiches with frozen, folded eggs and pre-cooked bacon. Today, all that changes,” said Carl Loredo, Chief Marketing Officer of The Wendy’s Company. “We are known for our high-quality food and breakfast is no different. Try any of our craveable items – we believe this menu will become your favorite.”
Wendy’s says it provides fresh, hand-cracked eggs on every sandwich except for its breakfast burrito. It is also serving Applewood smoked bacon baked in restaurant ovens each morning. The menu gives a “morning twist” to some of Wendy’s favorite menu items, including:
To celebrate the launch, Wendy’s is giving consumers a free Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit with purchase via the Wendy’s mobile app.
McDonald’s isn’t taking the new competition from Wendy’s at breakfast lightly. The Golden Arches declared Monday National Egg McMuffin Day with a free Egg McMuffin sandwich to customers who use its app. McDonald’s is also offering a 2 for $4 deal on Egg McMuffins.
