Trader Joe’s Adds $2 Hourly Bonus Pay for Workers

Trader Joe’s, the popular supermarket chain, with over 500 stores nationwide is giving employees an additional $2 hourly bonus beginning this month.

Since the start of the pandemic in March, Trader Joe’s has provided all hourly Crew Members with an additional $2/hour “thank you” wage, in recognition of the work they do on the frontlines.

Starting on February 1, 2021, this “thank you” premium for all hourly, non-management Crew Members, was increased by two dollars, for a total of $4 an hour.

Trader Joe’s also says it has increased sick time for employees since March 2nd, providing up to two weeks of additional paid sick time to Crew Members who have any symptoms of illness.

Trader Joe’s operates locations throughout the NY metro area and upstate. The chain will open its first location in Ithaca, NY on February 19. (photo above)

The company is a subsidiary of Germany’s Aldi Nord and has over 10,000 employees in the U.S.
