Yankees Home Opener Vs. Giants on Thursday Afternoon

The New York Yankees will open the 2023 regular season at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, March 30, with a 1:05 p.m. game against the San Francisco Giants.

What’s unusual about this Opening Day game is the Yankees will face San Francisco in the opener for the first time in franchise history. It marks just the second time that the Yankees’ season-opening game will be against a National League team (also 7/23/20 at Washington, a rain-shortened 4-1 Yankees win). In franchise history, the Yankees are 67-52-1 on Opening Day and 37-18-1 when the season opener is a home game. The Yankees enter Thursday’s contest with a 80-39-1 all-time record in home openers.

All Yankee Stadium gates will open to Guests with valid tickets beginning at 11:00 a.m. All Guests in attendance on Opening Day will receive an Opening Day Commemorative Ticket.

Pregame ceremonies are set to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m., with the introduction of both teams on the baselines.

Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive as early as possible to avoid lines that will increase in length as game time approaches.

The Yankees have partnered with CLEAR to provide ticketed fans with a faster, easier way into Yankee Stadium. To utilize CLEAR, download the free CLEAR app, sign up, and enter through the designated CLEAR expedited entry lanes at Babe Ruth Plaza and the Suite Entrance (for Guests with access).

A giant American flag will be unfurled on the field by Yankees season-ticket holders prior to the national anthem, which will be sung by singer and actress Adrianna Hicks, who currently stars as ‘Sugar Kane’ in the Broadway show Some Like It Hot. The presentation of colors will be performed by the U.S. Army West Point Cadet Honor Guard.

Former Yankees pitcher and Baseball Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Yankee Stadium will also have guest DJay Jung performing prior to the game and during inning breaks. During the seventh-inning stretch, Broadway performer Miguel Cervantes from Hamilton will sing “God Bless America.”

The Yankees’ homestand continues Saturday, April 1, at 4:05 p.m., and Sunday, April 2, at 1:35 p.m., with games against San Francisco, followed by a three-game series from Monday, April 3, through Wednesday, April 5, against the Philadelphia Phillies (Monday and Tuesday’s games will start at 7:05 p.m. and Wednesday’s game is a 1:05 p.m. start). The Saturday and Sunday games against San Francisco (April 1-2) will see the first 40,000 fans in attendance receive a 2023 Yankees Calendar presented by Mastercard. Gates for the final five games of the homestand will open 90 minutes before the scheduled first pitch.
