Delta Offers Passengers Free NY Times Access

Delta is partnering with The New York Times to bring free access to passengers for news, games, audio and more. Eligible SkyMiles Members will also receive 24 hours of complimentary access to all of The Times after they get off the plane.

For many customers, The New York Times is already part of their everyday routine—a connection that proved popular onboard when New York Times Games previously launched on Delta Sync. Building on that success, Delta Sync now brings even more of The Times’s universe into the journey, giving customers new ways to discover, learn and stay entertained.

SkyMiles Members have multiple ways to explore The Times’s expansive portfolio: both on their personal devices through free Delta Sync Wi-Fi (now available on nearly 1,200 aircraft) and via seatback screens (coming soon). The collaboration marks Delta Sync’s first truly global content partnership, meaning customers can access The Times’s full suite of offerings on all Delta Sync Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft, wherever they’re traveling.

“Travel is about more than getting from A to B – it’s about discovery,” said Julieta McCurry, Delta’s vice president of in-flight entertainment and connectivity. “This partnership is a natural fit: Delta connects the world, and The New York Times helps its readers understand it. Bringing the Times’s full portfolio into Delta Sync creates a richer journey, with something for everyone to discover.”

SkyMiles Members logged into Delta Sync Wi-Fi can unlock an exclusive 24-hour trial of The Times — no credit card required — with full access to its digital ecosystem during the flight and after landing, including:

  • News: Award-winning, trusted reporting and analysis across politics, world affairs, business, lifestyle and culture, science, technology and more.
  • Games: Word and logic puzzles including fan favorites like Wordle, Spelling Bee, Connections, The Crossword and more — plus hundreds of past puzzles.
  • Cooking: Advice, inspiration and more than 25,000 professionally crafted recipes and guides tested in home kitchens to help you cook.
  • Audio: Exclusive shows – including “The Daily,” “The Interview,” “Modern Love” and many more — in addition to narrated articles.
  • Wirecutter: Research, reviews, gift guides and recommendations to help you shop confidently.
  • The Athletic: In-depth, personalized coverage of your favorite sports and teams, with expert insights and analysis.

SkyMiles Members can redeem The New York Times offer onboard multiple times per year, making it easy to stay connected to the latest news and culture during long-haul travel, quick trips and beyond.

Starting in May, Delta will introduce curated video from The Times to more than 165,000 seatback screens across Delta’s fleet.

With The New York Times’s additional seatback content, customers can look forward to mid- and long-form New York Times video content, spanning culture, lifestyle and exploration. Seatback content will include premium video series like DealBook Summit, featuring wide-ranging interviews on the most important stories across business, politics and culture, and “The Interview,” showcasing conversations with compelling, influential figures in culture, politics, business, sports and beyond.
