Northwell Health has opened the Northwell Spine Institute at Lenox Hill, investing $6.3 million into the health system’s first dedicated destination center for back, neck and spine care. The 11,500-square-foot facility on Manhattan’s Upper East Side integrates orthopedics, sports medicine, neurosurgery, and physical medicine and rehabilitation within one location to offer comprehensive non-surgical and surgical treatment options across the full spectrum of spine conditions.
The site includes advanced, full-service spinal imaging with EOS technology, which delivers ultra-low-dose, full-body 3D scans that enhance diagnostic precision, support treatment planning and offer a safer, more efficient patient experience. A new digital X-ray unit is also housed on-site.
“Northwell Health continues to set the standard for spine care across the region,” said Frank Schwab, MD, system chief of orthopedic spine surgery, chairman of orthopedic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and co-executive director of the Northwell Spine Institute.
“This destination center brings together our system-level expertise in orthopedics, sports medicine, neurosurgery, and physical medicine and rehabilitation, enabling more coordinated care and streamlined access to comprehensive spine treatment for patients across New York and beyond.”
Patients will benefit from same-day and next-day appointments, as well as continuous support from a dedicated concierge access and navigation team. This team helps coordinate care, manage scheduling and answer questions throughout the care journey. Approaches to treatment emphasize conservative, preventive and evidence-based care whenever possible.
